The Snoqualmie valley school district has received a grant
for the past 15 years to teach an anti-tobacco education
program to the 5th grade students at every school. I choose
high school students through our health classes to teach a
one hour lesson for each 5th grade class. 75 students are
chosen based on grades, attendance and character.
The students will attend a one day workshop on March 21
to learn about the dangers of smoking and how to present the
material to a 5th grade classroom.
MSHS students bring great enthusiasm to the 5th
grade classes as well as the ever popular real live pig
lungs.....ok, they aren't alive anymore, but they are real.
Students will receive 15 hours of community service for
participating. Teaching will occur every year during the
months of April and May.
